How To Fill Your Home With Treasures
Proverbs 24:3-4 NLT "A house is built by wisdom and becomes strong through good sense. Through knowledge its rooms are filled with all sorts of precious riches and valuables."
What a beautiful MEF (minds eye flash) I had reading these verses. Looking at a piece of land, where a house is going to be built. It is bare, nothing there. Then all of a sudden, there is a foundation. However, the foundation has 'words' all over it! Words and sayings with phrases that are good and wise: foresight, experience, caution, knowledge, balance, learning.... Then there is a person, bent over, smoothing out the last bit of cement, and His name is Wisdom. I can just tell. It exudes from Him without Him even saying a word. In the way He moves, and with each stroke - there is purpose, reason, and a point of "end" that this is being done for. Then as if watching slow-motion, the house starts to build. Each piece, strategic in its placement. First one piece joined with another, kind of wibbely, but then as each piece gets added to the creation - it becomes stronger and stronger. Each and every piece has what seems like a lesson, or an experience that is what I have gone through. From learning to ride a bike, tying my shoes, cooking... Then as the different parts of the house are coming together, I start to see "things" that I've gone through. Choices and decisions that I actually made in different circumstances. Some hard, some easy. Some excruciatingly painful! Yet, as I see these pieces of the house joining with the others, not only is the house getting stronger, but now the "words" of wisdom, are getting darker and stronger too. More defined, more embedded in the structure. As the building goes on and up, I see that the choices made in good sense, seem to almost become 'load-bearing' stabilizing beams in the home.
Pretty soon, the home is built and the finishing touches start to come together. I see and feel the walls and floors being covered in words as well. This time it is words of kindness, love, joy, peace, patience, goodness, faithfulness, self control, gentleness, understanding.... woven with knowledge and wisdom - sealed with a coat of something that just seals it all in. Now, the rooms, start to fill up with items of everyday use but they too are covered with words that shine like precious jewels and gem stones with lots of precious metals as well. Gold, silver, bronze, diamonds, emeralds, every shining, glimmery thing you could ever imagine! The rooms are filled with moments of love, full complete love, unconditional... flashes of moments in time where this was experienced by me from others. Then glancing to the other side of the room, examples of times where I shared it with others. Each and every room was FILLED with riches, that actually had nothing to do with riches at all! The value of things that money cannot buy. The wink, the smile, the hug, the hand holding.... all of the things, that make us feel alive! The rooms very 'air' was breath and life of these 'words' floating all around, like the dust you can see in a sunbeam shining through a window, but it is everywhere! The warmth, yet cool and crispness in the rooms - is refreshing to my very core!
Money and things will ALL fade away. Even beauty fades. However, when we have the joy of the Lord in us, and Jesus shines through us towards others - THAT is more valuable and precious than ANY treasure we could ever hope to have or find here on earth! Great thing about living like that: you become MORE beautiful as each day goes by! Yes, to others, even if you are not 'dressed up' you ARE beautiful/handsome!
What is your foundation built on? What is your home filled with? If you are tired and feel weighed down with 'stuff' then perhaps you need to do some Spring Cleaning - and ask the Lord to come fill your house. Perhaps, He really wants you to get rid of some habits. Could be as simple as bad language, could be as hard as negative self talk. In order to have 'wisdom' you need to NOT try and do all of life on your own! Knowledge comes from many sources. You need Jesus of course, but you also need like-minded, Holy Spirit filled people, that can walk you through the processes of life. Pray with you. Support you. Encourage you. It is not easy for some people to step out of their comfort zone, I understand. However, when you pray and ask God to bless you with the people He has designed for you - He WILL bring them around! Lets all take a good, truthful, open eyed and heart look at our "home" and see if God's wisdom is our foundation. Be brave to ask Him to reveal any areas that need 'work' or that may need 'repair' and then call on the Master Carpenter, Jesus, to come and 'fix' the areas in your home! You know what?!?! He doesn't even charge you for this! He's already paid the price - so ACCEPT His help and perfect work! Have a GREAT day - be well, be safe, and KNOW that you ARE loved!! First and foremost by Jesus, but also by me :-)
