I'm Rubber You're Glue...
Proverbs 26:2 Like a fluttering sparrow or a darting swallow, an undeserved curse will not land on its intended victim.
Luke 10:5-6 Whenever you enter someone’s home, first say, ‘May God’s peace be on this house.’ If those who live there are peaceful, the blessing will stand; if they are not, the blessing will return to you.
This is one of the most incredible promises in the bible!! We as Christians, do NOT have to be worried when someone curses at us! That's right! If we are not in the wrong, and or we are following what God directed us to do - and someone curses us, it will not stick!
Personally, I believe the opposite is actually true: if it doesn't stick to us, then it bounces back and sticks on them. Like that old saying when we were kids, "I'm rubber you're glue, what ever you say, bounces off me and sticks on you!" This DOES work BOTH ways though. If we are the ones cursing someone else, and they actually do NOT deserve it, guess what?!?! Yup, back on to us!
Then the verses in Luke are also an amazing promise! We should do this to every place we enter. Someones home, a business, the airport, bank, car-wash, restaurant, school.... everywhere we go, as we enter, we should pray for the people in the place. The wonderful promise: if they are worthy of praise and blessings, it will stick to them. If they are not, then the prayer of blessing you just prayed, will come back to you. Win - Win in my book!
Can you imagine if we ALL did this?!?! I believe lives, families, people would change if we did this on a regular basis! Now, don't be praying selfish prayers for others 'hoping' it comes back on to you! No, it needs to be sincere and really for "them". It doesn't have to be elaborate, just simply like the 2nd verse says "May God's peace be on this place". That's it. Of course, if you are going in and you feel led to pray differently for them, then by all means, DO!
Today, lets try an make a new habit: praying for anyone and everyone that we are about to go in and see. If you are getting a ride from someone, pray for them as you enter their car. If you are visiting someone at their home, pray before going in their home. If you are shopping, then pray for those that are working in that business. If you go our to eat, pray for the hands that are preparing your food, the server serving you, and the owners to be blessed. Like I said, it does not have to be long and elaborate, but yes, it needs to be a blessing.
I'm praying for you today, that you are blessed in this adventure. May your heart and eyes be opened to the people and places around you. May you be blessed for asking our Father to bless others! KNOW that you are loved today! KNOW that God via the Holy Spirit will direct you! KNOW that Jesus is with you every step of the way, in all that you do!
