Break Free From Unwise Choices
Psalm 107:10-11, 13-14
Vs 10-11: “Some sat in darkness, in utter darkness, prisoners suffering in iron chains, because they rebelled against God’s commands and despised the plans of the Most High."
Vs 13-14: "Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble, and He saved them from their distress. He brought them out of darkness, the utter darkness, and broke away their chains."
Here is another promise for us from God! The MEF (minds eye flash) I got: a room beneath a room, with no light at all, and a person sitting there with heavy chains made of solid iron, alone, contemplating their life and choices. Because they 'chose' to be a prodigal, and follow the lusts of their heart - they ended up in this darkest of dark places. The weight of the emotions attached to the choices they have made were displayed on them with different thicknesses of chains. One as thick as anchor chain. So heavy and thick, that it nearly takes their breath away. Others are smaller chain yet seem to be wrapped even tighter than others. The emotions of regret, shame, forgiveness, distrust, hate, anger, people pleasing...all have their own 'chain'. Then, as they start confessing that 'they' got themselves into this mess, and stopped blaming God, instead started crying out to God - the door opened! As they tried to stand to see, the weight of the anchor chain dropped off! Freeing them to stand and walk. A candle guided their way up a level, which broke free some more chains. Then another level, more chains gone. Walking along, light comes in thru openings here and there. Eyes squinting from the bits of light shining in. Yet each step feels better and better, more liberating and freeing! Reaching yet another level, where nearly every chain is broken and gone, dropped along the way to the Light. Even the emotions and feelings of despair, failure, defeat... are all gone along the way with the chains! To be FREE from the utter darkness, held in chains of their own doing - is very humbling and emotional. Reaching the top, not only seeing the "Light" but FEELING it too, makes them take in a deep breath. The freshness and newness that comes from being free, is like a birth: pure and new. Thank goodness for 2nd, 3rd, and gazzillionth chances!!
We get this EVERY time we come to Him in prayer and confess what we've done! Sometimes we need to ask the Holy Spirit to show us areas we have made unwise choices or sinned, and sometimes we know before we ever even sit down. Today, let's follow ACTS and communicate with Jesus!
A - adoration. Praise God for who He is.
C - confession. Tell God what you've done, even tho He already knows.
T - thanks. Thank God for what He's done & or doing in your life & the life of others.
S - supplication. Ask for your needs and the needs of others.
God honors us with mercy, compassion and forgiveness when we come to Him - it's His promise over and over in scripture! Have a beautiful and blessed day!
