Do You Have Enough

1 Timothy 6:6-9
Vs 6: “Yet true godliness with contentment is itself great wealth."
Vs 7: "After all, we brought nothing with us when we came into the world, and we can’t take anything with us when we leave it."
Vs 8: "So if we have enough food and clothing, let us be content."
Vs 9: "But people who long to be rich fall into temptation and are trapped by many foolish and harmful desires that plunge them into ruin and destruction."

Wow! As I look back over my life, these verses are SO true!! When I have been content with a roof over my head and food on our table - I have felt the most blessed, rich even! Yet, when I thought 'being rich' meant with money - I fell prey to a LOT of scams!! Things that actually TOOK and wasted my money! There was a double, if not triple problem that happened because of me following foolish 'get rich quick scams'.... I wasted and lost a lot of money, but worse - the example I taught to my daughter. Who now struggles handling her finances. Now, it's being passed on to her kids! Yikes!! Strange: my parents believed in hard work and earning wages - but they really didn't pass it in to me, instead, they spoiled me and did me a disservice.

Now, because God is VERY gracious - He has had the Holy Spirit teach me and show me differently! I FEEL rich with joy, friendship, love, and even contentment. I've learned to save and spend differently thru Dave Ramsey's FPU. I am truly 'rich' in Jesus!! Never let the things you 'want' make you forget the things you 'have'!

It also struck me, just how many of us, in our weight loss journey, compare ourselves to others. How we still allow the "bully" in our heads to dictate what we will or will not be happy with. However, if each day we wake up having made better choices yesterday than the day before - isn't that a WIN?!?! It is in my book!! When we wake up and thank God for the things He has done, changed, guided us to... we are more able to be content in the moment of our journey. Don't be SO hard on yourself, or your body - for doing things "its own way" - Follow what your doctor has told you, get out of your head, and start being thankful for the little changes that HAVE happened!!

How are you today? Are you content with what you have? Or are you being lured in by all sorts of gimmicks that actually cause more harm than good? God is faithful in how He provides for you. Take a moment, go thru the ABC's, thank Him for providing for you with something that starts with each letter. You will 'feel' much wealthier when you do! Be blessed, well, safe and productive in all you do today!
