How Life Changes So Quickly

Proverbs 27:8 "Like a bird that flees its nest is anyone who flees from home."

Wow - two things (well, maybe 3 LOL 4) struck me with this one today.
1 - a baby bird actually fleeing the nest. What usually awaits them? A cat! LOL But really, the dangers of the world. The extreme fall to the ground. Other animals that want to eat it. If it is near humans, then kids that want to play with it. On and on the dangers from 'leaving the nest/fleeing' too soon.
2 - teenagers that want to "flee" from home too soon. So excited to "live on their own" and do things their way! They end up putting themselves in harms way, much like the baby bird. They do not have the life experiences behind them to see the dangers around the corner. Like the baby bird, they end up learning the hard way most of the time. Some survive, some get hurt, some end up realizing their mistakes and come back for advise and or help.
3 - people that leave a church "home" for various reasons. When you find a church "home" and call it your home, grow relationships, and become family with others there - when we "leave/flee" a church for childish or teenage reasons - then we too can be opened up for the dangers out there.
4 - weight loss and healthy habits. Gosh! This hit me after I was realizing the unseen dangers of fleeing/leaving/running away from 'home'. How often do we start a new fad way of losing weight and trying to get healthy, to only end up being like that baby bird - in danger or falling off into the unknown and getting defeated.

Goodness! That last way of thinking really hit home to me! Since I have had weight loss surgery, I too have fallen for the "I can do it my way" thinking LOL and that landed me in the hospital - oops! I wanted even faster results than was already happening, and I wanted to be given the 'permission' to eat what 'I WANTED'. Not necessarily what was good and right for me and my body though. I am a recovering fat addict. So, the Ketogenic Food Plan seemed like the best thing since sliced bread! However, after weight loss surgery our bodies change. What is actually needed and what is healthy is going to be slightly different than any other food program we have ever been on. Our new 'tummy' is in control. The brains of the whole body of operation. So, NOT listening to it - well, can cause issues and or feed right back in to old habits and patterns.

I'm SO thankful to say, that God is SO merciful!! His extended hand of knowledge, wisdom, faith, mercy...never, NEVER left my side. He was and is right here next to me, offering His guidance and wisdom of what is right "for me" and my 'temple' that He lives in. Interesting - each of us are designed uniquely and very special with great detail - so too is the temple that He builds in and through each of us! WOW!! Awesome revelation right there!!

So, this verse, pertains to ALL of us! When we leave 'home' which is the presence of Jesus, we run the risk and increase our chances of entering into danger, even death. I encourage you, today, to stop and look at the direction in life you are going. Are you wandering aimlessly trying to find a place to belong? Are you struggling frantically to climb back up the tree into a safe place? Are you sitting, hiding, in a quiet place hoping to be 'found' by the right person? Are you dancing around jumping from one extreme to another in hopes to have 'something magical' happen? Are you standing on the edge of the nest, dreaming of big things but resting in the timing of God? Are you out with the other mature birds, flying and soaring doing the things God is calling you to do? No matter where you find yourself in or out of the 'nest' - Jesus is ready and willing to have you "home" in His arms ANY time you are ready! He never turns His back on us. Never leads us into danger. Never tries to harm or kill us. Following Jesus, His timing, and doing the things He directs us to do - will ALWAYS lead to a strong, healthy, vibrant life! I'm praying that if you have jumped out of the home nest too soon, tried things 'your way' and you just need something a bit 'homey' - then call out to Him, ask Him to guide and direct you right now, and He WILL!! Then, you have to be brave and listen and do what He tells you to do ;-)
