Eventually We Do Arrive
Proverbs 13:12 "Unrelenting disappointment leaves you heartsick, but a sudden good break can turn life around."
Boy, this sure is true in the world of weight loss! When you are doing everything you are supposed to be doing: eating right, sleeping right, getting in enough water, moving more.... and then that scale doesn't budge. Talk about frustration and disappointment! Ok, one week, not too bad. But then 2, 3, 4 weeks go by - nothing. We can get discouraged and fall into depression. Perhaps even a little resentment at the food plan or diet (or the person who is coaching you through it lol). This moment in time, is where the heartsickness comes in. Perhaps even the mourning of the loss of "old favorites" comes in. For those of us who have been yo-yo-dieters, our poor body is just trying to "catch up" to us. Not to mention, it is seeing if we "really mean it" this time. Or are we just going to go back to our old habits at this crossroads in time. Trusting in the process sure can stink at this moment, but it does prove to be right when we keep doing what we are to be doing.
Then, like a bright light from heaven, is the moment when the scale drops! It is our sudden good break - and it truly does turn us around! Once again we celebrate our thinking and actions! We are encouraged to keep doing the next right thing. Success is happening once again. Now, we gladly do the things we know we should be doing.
The physical body is an outward example of our spiritual body at times. It shows what we are putting in whether it is good and healthy choices or junky processed choices. Our hearts reflect through our actions and thoughts what is going on inside of us. When we don't spend time with Jesus each day, it affects our insides in more ways than one. Slowly, like pounds creeping back up on the scale, we start falling back into old patterns of thinking which leads to old habits of actions. The thing is, when we spend time with Jesus each day, and life is going crazy around us - we have a peace and calmness that just cannot be explained. It keeps us grounded and rooted in the assurance that "things WILL turn around" and we will make it through whatever it is that we are going through.
If you are going through something that seems to have "no end", that may be true for a while. However, a break is coming. Things will begin to turn around. It may be in big ways or in little ways. Watch for God to show up, and you will not be disappointed. He may show up in the most unexpected and unbelievable ways - it is SO exciting to watch and wait for Him!! His working in our lives, is like that one person in your life, that you get all excited over them coming to visit. Or for kids, it's like Santa coming.... the anticipation of the good coming - makes us keep on doing the next right things we are to do, no matter how long it takes. It may be a long road, but it is worth it. Eventually, we do "make it" - the timing is just a bit different for each and every person.
I'm praying for you and your day. That you are encouraged today with a "big break" in whatever it is that is making you heartsick. I pray that your heart be renewed by the Lord in some way that is special only to you. Take courage my friend, He is working things out for the BEST for you! Have a GREAT day! Know that you are loved - right exactly where you are!
