Being Laughed At May Be The Start Of A Miracle

Mark 5:40-42 "The crowd laughed at Him. But He made then all leave, and He took the girl's father and mother and His three disciples into the room where the girl was lying. Holding her hand, He said to her, "Talitha koum," which means "Little girl, get up!" And the girl, who was twelve years old, immediately stood up and walked around! They were overwhelmed and totally amazed."

Well, ALL of this chapter is a GREAT read!! This story jumped out at me, due to the fact that the girl was resurrected. BUT before she was resurrected, Jesus "sent away" those that were mocking/laughing at Him. I believe they were mocking the parents as well, for even having an ounce of belief and trust that Jesus could or would DO something for the girl. THEN for Him to say, that she is not dead, but 'sleeping' - well, all sorts of ridicule, mocking and laughing took place!

Here's the thing. When God puts in our hearts that He is going to do an amazing thing in our life, through us, around us, or to us - we might need to "shut out" those that are mocking us! This is not necessarily easy by any means! However, Jesus did it with this family, so we too can do it when necessary in our life. For me, my journey to be the "glove" on Gods hand, I have had to endure a lot of mocking and ridicule for my trust, belief, and following what I believe God is guiding me to do. A long time ago (1995) on a back road in Indiana in the pouring rain, God spoke very loud and clear to me, that He would never take me backwards only forward. I believe this 100% and cling to it still. When I am tempted to focus on the past (which has already happened, and can NOT be changed) the Holy Spirit reminds me of this encounter in my car. The thing about this family here in Mark, is that they were not just any regular neighbors. He was a leader in the synagogue, which meant they were probably surrounded by all sorts of people. Some true friends, some family, and some 'users'. And some like the paparazzi today with celebrities. So, for Jesus to 'make them all leave' was a pretty big deal. However, He was about to increase the families faith 100 fold, and do something amazing in their life!

Perhaps their faith was slipping a little, or they were getting caught up in the notoriety and happenings around them. Perhaps they were allowing the world to pull them away from time spent with God. What ever it was in their past that needed "resurrecting" Jesus was about to do it in a very tangible way! I'm a visual person, and reading that He held her hand, reminds me of Isaiah 41:13, where God tells us not to be afraid, and that He is holding our right hand. LOL even if we have a clinched fist, He is still the loving Father that grabs hold of our hand, and tells us to "get up" while 'lifting' us up in His hands. What a great picture in my mind!!

Today, get away to a quiet place, and ask God to reveal to you anything He is wanting to 'resurrect' in your life. It could be something you already know, but have ignored. It could be something you could never imagine. Small or big, no matter what, "listen" to what He shares with you. Then, ask Him to allow the Holy Spirit to guide and direct you in this. He will! Now, here is the "brave" part - you will have to be willing to have a spot light shine on those that are mocking you, and 'put them out' so you can focus on what God is doing and wants you to do. It doesn't say, that they were totally removed from their lives, just 'put outside'. Which, I can totally imagine, when they all saw the girl walking around changed their tune BIG time! My minds eye sees them coming to a belief in Jesus like no other! Spreading the Good News in ways that were passed down several generations! God is working and moving all around us, each and every day - sometimes, we just need to put on our Holy Spirit Glasses, so we can 'see' where He is leading us! I pray, that today, you hear His voice as He talks to you about His resurrection power, and how He will work and move in and through you!
