Do You Need A Crown Of Victory
What kind of victory are you
needing today?
Psalm 149:4 (NLT) For the
Lord delights in His people; He crowns the humble with victory.
The Lord “delights” in His
people. Delights. What comes to your mind as you hear that word? Do you have a
memory or vision that pops in your head? I do! Watching young children at play,
learning new things. Watching a toddler walk and even run with glee as they are
being chased by a parent or grandparent. Yes, I can imagine we can bring this
kind of delight to our Lord daily. I’m sure we put on a pretty amusing show each
and every day LOL
The Lord “crowns” the “humble”
with “victory”. Well, these three words just don’t seem to go together, yet our
heavenly Father puts them together in high importance. I know He will give each
of us a crown when we get to heaven, but this verse let me see that there are “crowns”
on us each and every day! Crowns of “victory”! When we are least expecting it,
when we are unpresuming of something, THAT is when He gives us a crown of victory.
Have you ever been running
late, and apologizing in your head as you try and get where you are going on
time? Then you make it just in time? There you go – a crown of victory!
Have you ever walked into a
situation where you felt so out of place or uncomfortable that you shot up a
911 prayer? Then someone comes over and greets you and puts you at ease? There
you go – a crown of victory!
How about when you are faced
with temptation of something and you walk away? There you go – a crown of
victory!
Perhaps you are a new mother and you are begging for rest, and your baby nods off and so do you? here you go – a crown of victory!
When we least expect it and
are humble in ourselves, the Lord lifts us up. Now, don’t go thinking you can “fake
it” on the outside and be waiting to be lifted up on the inside… that normally
doesn’t work out like we plan LOL I myself have been knocked down a peg or two
in my day, when I got all “big headed” over something. It is much more
enjoyable to be lifted up verses knocked down! This actually normally makes us humble when it happens. Which is actually a good thing.
God reminds us in His word,
that it is better to take the lowest place at the table, and then have the
host/hostess come and get us and move us to a higher place at the table. Not to
give honor to ourselves, but to allow others to esteem us and compliment us and
lift us up in honor. Does this mean we can’t be proud of our accomplishments?
Of course not – it is the “lording it over others” that is not right. Giving
God the glory is WAY better than trying to take it on ourselves. He will bring
the right people at the right time to encourage us and lift us up. Besides,
even if people here on earth don’t do it – like we wish, hope, dream, pray that
they would… God and His heavenly hosts ARE lifting us up in glory! We just don’t
see it right this moment, yet.
KNOW this: God is looking
down on you all day long. He delights in YOU. He loves YOU. You are His precious
child and it pleases Him to watch all that you do. He has great joy seeing you
living your life. Yes, He has some good belly laughs too, I’m sure – but that
just adds to the extreme delight YOU are to Him!! I am praying that today, you
feel, see, hear and enjoy the crowning of victory that the Lord provides for
you. Delight in the fact that He is enjoying you and all you do. Be well my
friend, be safe, and BE blessed!!
