How Do You Wake Up Each Day
Psalm 5:3 "In the morning, Lord, You hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before You and wait expectantly."
I had a bit of a MEF (minds eye flash) on this verse. Inside a home, the parent is up, in the quiet of the day, tending to things before the family awakes. As the sun rises and the outside noises of the world start to increase, the parent is still in silence on the inside. Then, there is this small voice. Faint. Chatty. One of the kids are waking up. The parent, can hear that small voice all the way from the other end of the house.
This is how it is with God EVERY day! No matter when or how we wake up, He is right there in the house with us, and He hears us! What are your first "sounds" like to His ears? Do you wake up on auto-pilot? Do you move about in silence, like a robot, doing your routine but not really 'in the moment'? Do you wake up singing songs that you hear in your head as you rise? What type of songs are they? Do you wake up frustrated or angry? What words come out of your mouth as you are getting up and going for the day?
You know what? It doesn't matter 'how' you wake up, or what your first words are - the Lord has been with you all night, and is right there in the morning too. I really like the last part of this verse that says "I lay my requests before You and wait expectantly" - what?!?! Yes, FIRST thing in the morning, before the day has even begun. That means, we just wake up and share with the Lord, what we 'think' is going to happen in that day. What our plans are. How we would 'like' things to go. THEN - the BEST part: wait expectantly. He actually wants us to have the 'expectation' of Him working all things out for the good, for our best interest. He delights in giving us things. He really is blessed when we rely on Him for His guidance and strength in things. THAT is how we are to start each day. Try it. Lay your requests of the day before Him, and wait expectantly on His wonderful, creative ways He will work things out around you! You can just "talk" with Him about your day, or you can journal - it doesn't matter - just do it. I have my morning tea with Jesus. That's when I lay out my hopes, dreams, and desires for the day. I pray for others and the needs they are in the middle of. I have NO idea how He will work things out, but I believe He totally will. I'm praying for you and your day. Be well, be safe, be blessed.
