You Can't Take It With You

Proverbs 11:4 “Wealth is worthless in the day of wrath, but righteousness delivers from death.

Oh my goodness! The MEF (mind’s eye flash) I got when I read this verse!! LOL I saw a person that has accumulated a BIG amount of “stuff” that can be considered by us as ‘wealth’. Houses, cars, water toys, money, jewels, clothes…. They are sitting like a pirate that just found treasure in a cave, on top of ‘all their stuff’. Then it flashes to a funeral. This person is no longer sitting up high and mighty, but laying low in a box about to go in the ground. None of their ‘treasure’ is going with them. It couldn’t buy their way into eternal life. Then the 2nd part of a flash – two different people: 1 with just as much “stuff” but that they share and use to bring others joy and 2 a very poor person by the worlds standards. Both have and love Jesus with all their heart. They have accepted His free gift of salvation. Flash – they are now dead too. However, they are instantly transported to standing in heaven, delivered from death and eternal separation from God.

The old saying, “you can’t take it with you” is SO true!! All of us come into this world naked and with nothing. We leave the same way. In an instant we are standing before God and the Book of Life. It is only if our names are written in that Book, do we get to spend eternity with Him in heaven. Live in a mansion that has been built just for us. A crown placed on our heads with very fine jewels. The streets are made of gold. It is a very beautiful and awesome place to spend eternity. A place bigger and better than ANY wealth we could ever accumulate here on earth! If our names are not found in that Book, then we are doomed to eternal separation from Him by being in hell, where we will suffer greatly every day thereafter.

Is it bad to have wealth? NOT at all!! Is it wrong to get it in deceitful, rebellious, unlawful ways? YES!! God judges us and our heart. Only He truly knows our inner most being. Only He knows if we have truly accepted His gift of salvation. No getting there, on that day, standing before Him and saying, “oops, my bad, let me have another chance, a do-over” – that is why it is so important to live and serve and share Jesus here and now. I pray for you today, that your life is not being used up on worthless things. That you have Jesus in your heart, so that all you do and have can and will be a blessing to you as well as others. There is no U-Haul following us to heaven. None of our ‘stuff’ can save us. However, getting caught up in all of our ‘stuff’ can cause us to be in a world of hurt when we die. And, we ARE going to die. Where are you going to be spending your eternity? What or Who are you living for here and now? Yourself? Others? Jesus? I’m praying that you let go of worldly desires, and focus on Jesus and sharing His good news, so that others will spend eternity with Him as well. So that others will be spared from separation from God forever. Be well. Be safe. Be blessed.
