What Route Are You Taking Today
Isaiah 55:8-9
(MSG) “I don’t think
the way you think. The way you work isn’t the way I work.” God’s Decree.
“For as the sky soars high
above earth, so the way I work surpasses the way you work,
and the way I think is beyond
the way you think.
(NIV) “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways,” declares the Lord. “As the heavens are higher than the
earth, so
are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts.
This totally makes me think of husbands and wives. Men and
women. Parents and children. Bosses and or co-workers… We all have different
ways than the other of doing things. We normally think our way is right or the
best way to accomplish the task. However, we can at least see and understand
the other point of view (usually lol). When we work with someone on a project,
we can at least see the desired outcome. Yet, with God – His ways of going
about things is usually NOT at all like we would go about something! When we
keep these thoughts in us as we go about our day – it can actually be an
adventure! When we follow His guidance, directions, and do His service with our
focus being giving glory to Him – then we are opened up to SO many things
throughout our day! Rather than being annoyed when our ‘routine’ gets messed
with.
Yes, I feel like I ‘start’ my day with blinders on
so-to-speak. I’m not fully awake, and just go about doing what I do in the
morning as a routine. Just the very thoughts I think are SO different than how
our amazing Father thinks! I know, I know – duah! But, we are created in His
image, His likeness. So, that means that He does know what we are truly like.
Inside and out. But think about it for a moment – what if we did NOT do things
the same way each day?!?! What if we didn’t have a routine, as we know it
anyway?!?! What if, we woke up – and before even getting out of bed, said a
prayer that asked God to guide and direct us, our day, our path, our thoughts
and our actions. Perhaps, somedays He would take us on a familiar road, and
perhaps others would not. Imagine all we would get to see and do!!
To me, what God wants from us, what He always wants from us –
is a willing heart to follow Him. That may be routine, or it may be a zig-zag
way through our day. LOL I think that is why I drive by the “red light / green
lights.” No matter where I am going, there is usually more than one way to get
there. So, if the light is red, I turn. If it is green, I keep going straight.
It really makes for an interesting view. Interesting things pop up in my
thoughts to pray for. The people of that area, and for the businesses along
that route. I feel that sometimes we can get stuck in a routine and be blind in
what we are doing, where we are going, and how we got there. Yet, God calls us
to be on the alert and ready at a moment’s notice. We can’t really do that if
we are a walking zombie LOL
Today, instead of blindly following your habitual route – try
something new! Pray for the people you see, the cars you pass, the business you
go by as you drive or ride along. Ask God to make your route His route for
today. You never know, someone in that block is in just the exact moment of
needing prayer – and we may not be able to help them and their actual need, but
God CAN! Prayer CAN! Allow the Holy Spirit to talk to you as you go by, and
just pray what you hear Him telling you to pray about. It’s those pop-corn
thoughts that come out of nowhere – that’s the Holy Spirit. Pray even if it
doesn’t make sense or feel in any way shape or form natural. God will work
behind the scenes and work it all out. Be well, be safe, and be blessed BIG
time today!
