This Sugar Is Good For You


Proverb 27:7
(GNT) When you are full, you will refuse honey, but when you are hungry, even bitter food tastes sweet.
(MSG) When you’ve stuffed yourself, you refuse dessert; when you’re starved, you could eat a horse.


Boy have I been there! I’ve been full from a meal, and nothing tastes good, and I can actually push stuff away. I have also been hungry, and even something normally yucky, tasted good! LOL Yes, it has felt like I could eat a horse at times too!

What jumped out at me in this verse is our hunger for Jesus. Our craving and desire to get to know Him more and more. How BEFORE knowing Him, we kept pushing Him away. When we would hear someone “preaching” we would behave like we would at a meal where we were full – we would push them away. Close off our ears, and not listen. Maybe even get up and walk away. I remember feeling ‘full’ of hearing people talk about Jesus and such. I remember feeling like I had had enough, that I was ‘good’ and my parents believed in God, so I am good with my forever. Well, then one day, the truth hit! The words that I felt were “bitter” to me and my life and heart, became something I craved and couldn’t get enough of! All of a sudden, all of the bible seemed real, alive, breathing, changing…sweet! LOL Yes, I have tried more times than I can count, to read the bible from front to back – I have not ever completed that desire, but I do believe I have read the whole bible, just in a dizzy way LOL

Today, I pray that you feel “hungry” for God and His word. That you crave and desire Jesus’ wisdom, understanding, and way of loving. I pray that the Holy Spirit is real and personal to you today, like never before! May you experience the “wanting to eat a horse” with scripture. Perhaps, you are curious, not quite sure of all of this Jesus thing – well, then I pray you crave the ‘dessert’ of His love, kindness, and forgiveness. Then like true sugar, once that settles in, I pray you crave more and more! ;-) With the bible, God’s sugar is GOOD! We can have and crave all we want! The sugar of Jesus is life, not death. Oh my goodness! A phrase I say ALL of the time, when God does something amazing, comes from a skit that Bill Cosby did a long time ago when his kids were little. He told about his allowing the kids to have chocolate cake for breakfast after they convinced him it has all of the ‘good ingredients’ in it. Well, as they were eating at the table, they sang a little song, “did is great, he gives us chocolate cake!” Well, I say, “God is great! He gives us chocolate cake!” to ALL things that are surprise blessings from Him!

God winks, God-incidences, holy-bumps… whatever you want to call them – God deserves our praise and thank You’s for them! I pray you see, hear, taste and feel God in ways you have never felt Him before – today. Enjoy the sweetness of a growing relationship with Jesus – it is the BEST thing ever! God's sugar is actually good for us! Be well today. Be safe in all you do. Be blessed my friend!

How To Be Rich...In Good Works

1 Timothy‬ ‭6:17-19 “Teach those who are rich in this world not to be proud and not to trust in their money, which is so unreliable. Their trust should be in God, who richly gives us all we need for our enjoyment. Tell them to use their money to do good. They should be rich in good works and generous to those in need, always being ready to share with others. By doing this they will be storing up their treasure as a good foundation for the future so that they may experience true life."      What an amazing passage!! Even if we are not rich by our standards or the worlds...we CAN be 'rich in good works'! Being generous isn't always about money. It can be time, conversation, love, kindness... Remember, when we 'do to the least of these' we are doing it to/for Jesus. Today, you have the opportunity to 'experience true life' - you do!! How? What Does Twilight Look Like To You

Isaiah 21:4 (NIV) My heart falters, fear makes me tremble; the twilight I longed for has become a horror to me. This chapter contains prophecies against  Babylon ,  Edom  and  Arabia . However, this verse jumped out at me for a different reason. First of all, I had a bit of an MEF (mind’s eye flash) of sitting on a porch overlooking the vast sky towards a big open space. Watching the sun set. Actually sitting there anticipating the setting sun and all of the colors that will be painted across the sky at twilight. How amazing and beautiful the sky becomes each and every night, as God uses it to create a magnificent canvas of art for us to enjoy! I am absolutely amazed each time I see His wonderful sunsets! Then the MEF changed. These verses reminded me of the times I have lost loved ones. How that beautiful night sky became a symbol of the fear, yes even horror of the night to come. How To Avoid Meaningless Conversations

1 Timothy‬ ‭1:4-5 “Don’t let them waste their time in endless discussion of myths and spiritual pedigrees. These things only lead to meaningless speculations, which don’t help people live a life of faith in God. The purpose of my instruction is that all believers would be filled with love that comes from a pure heart, a clear conscience, and genuine faith."      Have you ever had a conversation with someone that feels like 'it's SO off track' or that leads to a debate of things that just 'don't feel right'? LISTEN to that Red Flag from the Holy Spirit! Excuse yourself, and walk away! Why? Because the enemy uses these crazy opinions & topics to dance around in your head and thoughts for days, weeks, even months ahead.
