When You Feel Like You Can't Go On
Psalm 29:11 (NLT) "The Lord gives His people strength. The Lord blesses them with peace."
I like this "address 29:11" it is another promise from God for us!! One that we can pray back to Him just like we can and do Jeremiah 29:11 "For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope."
The bible is FULL of hopeful verses! Full of promises! Full of the very words, the breath of God - that we can cling to and hold on to just as we would those of any wise father. Only, God is far wiser and unconditionally loving than any earthly father we could have.
Have you had a time where you just needed 'strength' to go on? Just one more step, or crawl, at a time? Where you felt and thought, there is NO way you can make it through this circumstance/situation? Did you cry out to God? Did you ask Him to help you make it through each step? Each hour? Shoot, each minute? I have! Plenty of times!! The thing that struck me just now, is that even though I thought my "minutes" were dragging on and on, He was giving me both the peace and the endurance to keep going! Oh don't get me wrong, there have been times, where I prayed a prayer like this, and then crawled right back into bed, pulled the covers over me, and slept - for days. Tossed and turned in my self-pity, and did NOT have peace.
DING!! Light-bulb moment just happened!! The times when things have been hard, down right grueling and yet I kept going (crawling) I actually had peace even though it was really hard! The times I crawled in a hole and wallowed in my sadness/situation, I did NOT have peace. Hmmm - even when things are hard, and boy howdy can they be/get hard! - if we keep God in our sights, talk to Him, reach out to Him and pray His words and promises back to Him - we have something inside that gives us strength, that allows us to just keep going (just keep swimming, just keep swimming - LOL) yes, even if it is just a crawl. And yes, then we are blessed with an inner, unexplainable peace. LOL even if we don't see it or feel it right at the very top surface of that moment. When we look back, we see where God carried us.
LOL another MEF (minds eye flash): All of a sudden, I'm in a battlefield type setting, having to go through an obstacle course like they do when people are training in the military. Over walls, under wires... As I'm crawling under wires - RIGHT THERE beside me EVERY inch I crawl, Jesus is RIGHT THERE WITH me! Like so close we are touching yet moving and not being hindered to move. Then on the long stretch parts, where I'm out of breath, weak, can hardly hold myself up - Jesus is carrying me. THIS is how it is in our life during ALL situations! We just need to focus on His promises, and pray His words back to Him!!
Today, I am praying that you are finding yourself in a green meadow, walking along and enjoy life and the view! I'm praying for you to "see" that meadow up ahead if you are in a muddy pit right now. Grab hold and let Jesus pull you up and out of the mud, and over the fence to the meadow. He gives us strength to make it, and blesses us with peace - ask for it, He LOVES to give us His children gifts of the Spirit!! Be well today! Be safe. May you be blessed and prosper in all you put your hands to today!
