Do You Have A Clean Slate?
What is the best way to have a clean slate before God? Making sure it is clean each night before going to bed. ;-) Using the "eraser" of confession!
Hebrews 10:30-31 “For we know the one who said,
“I will take revenge. I will pay them back.” He also said, “The Lord will judge His own people.” It is a terrible thing to
fall into the hands of the living God.”
Have you ever had one of those days where nothing
seems to go right? Have you ever thought it is due to unconfessed sin? Could
be. Could be something from the past that perhaps you haven’t been fully aware
of. Then again, it could also just be because we are still alive here on earth,
living in a fallen world – nothing to do with us or our life at all. Yes, the
enemy can and does try and “trip” us up a LOT! He TRIES to trip us up with
things from our past, that we HAVE confessed, and the Lord HAS forgiven. That’s
when we need to claim truth, and remind the enemy that he is the one that is
the loser and the one God has defeated already. We have Jesus living IN us, and
the confidence of the Holy Spirit guiding us daily – so the devil can just go
away!
What struck me about these verses today are two
things: 1) that we can know with utmost assurance, that God is the one fighting
our battles! He is the first and final Judge in all things with all people! He
is the One that will avenge us, His children, against any and all evil that
comes our way. 2) Just because we are His children, doesn’t mean we won’t
experience discipline at times. We ARE judged, daily, for the choices we make.
What is different is that we have the opportunity to have a clean slate each
and every day! By confessing what we have done that day, and praying to make
better choices the next day (or even the rest of that day lol).
Now the very last line in these verses, hit me as
for someone that WAS following Jesus, and has for some reason, allowed people
to lead them astray. By changing their focus and turning from God and the
things of God. By attacking and or going after anything and everything of God.
Including the people of God. Well, when THEY have discipline…. WOWZERS!! My
heart is actually beating faster at this thought! Yes, they WILL fall, and when
they do, they will land right in the palm of God’s hands. But, it won’t be a
soft cushy landing. I believe it will be a landing surrounded by love, but a
hard landing that will have the discipline and possible anger of God poured out
onto them. Yikes!
So how do we overcome or prevent separating from
God? By daily “coming clean” about the choices we made that day. Good, bad or
indifferent. Only when we fully expose ourselves to our loving Father – can and
will He grant us mercy, forgiveness, and pour out His love on us.
Here is a simple and practical way to do this:
follow the ACTS and you can’t go too far wrong doing so ;-)
A – Adoration. Praise God for who He is. What He
does. How He does it…
C – Confession. Confess to God the things that
you know have gone against His
will.
Actions, words, thoughts – of course anything that goes against the
commands of God – confess those for sure!
T – Thanksgiving. Thank God, for the things He
has done and or provided. This
is also
where you can thank Him for the things He “will be doing”.
S – Supplication. This is asking or lifting up
needs. Both of yours and of others.
Today, let’s start with a “clean slate”. Take a
deep breath in, and let out all of the things God sees and knows about already,
but that WE need to “let go of” by telling Him about them. The good thing is:
it is NEVER too late and we are NEVER too far “gone” to come to Him like the
child of His that we are. Pretty awesome!! Let’s let God be our avenger on
anyone that has caused us harm or done us wrong. Let God judge them. We just
need to bring our own heart before Him, and deal with our own “baggage” – not anyone
else’s.
Have an amazing, freeing, clean, fresh, new,
blessed day!! I’m praying for you!!
