We Are To Be Like A Tea Bag
What do you see when you look around you? Are you full of worry, or are you content?
Matthew 6:33
(NLT) Seek the Kingdom of God above
all else, and live righteously, and He will give you everything you need.
(MSG)
Steep your life in God-reality, God-initiative, God-provisions. Don’t worry
about missing out. You’ll find all your everyday human concerns will be met.
What
does it mean to “seek the Kingdom of God”? Well, to me, you just have to look
at another version of the same verse, and it tells you. ‘Steeping your life’
literally means to put yourself all-in. Fully immerse yourself. Like we do a
tea bag in hot water. Then let it “rest” there – “live” there. This means, that
if we look for where God is and “go be in it” – then we are IN God’s Kingdom.
We are looking forward to our journey to our “home” which is heaven. We are
just foreigners here on earth, and our TRUE Home is in Heaven with God the
Father and Jesus the Son.
If
you have ever visited another country, it is pretty amazing how we “stick out”
when we visit there. People usually even ask “where are you from?” to which
they smile when we say America (well, usually, depending on where you are
visiting lol). We look different, act different, and talk different. This is
how we should be as Christians too! People should know by what they see that we
are ‘different’ – not from this place.
“Live
righteously” is another thing that trips a lot of people up. It is living in
the “today” not the yesterday or the tomorrow. But right here, right now – this
day. Trusting God and His provisions. Now, His “provisions” may differ greatly
from our “wishes” LOL – but if we truly look at our life and our day – we can
see where the very basic needs of living – He provides! We really don’t need to
worry about “missing out” because, the things we see that we “want” verses what
we need – usually are things that fly away and vanish before we ever get to
fully enjoy them.
Trusting
God to provide isn’t always easy, this I know. However, even when I look back
at some of the more challenging times in my life – He truly did provide the
things I “needed” verses what I ‘wanted’ and things worked out WAY better than
if they had gone my way!!
Today,
I encourage you to just sit still for a few moments. Look around you and “look”
at all of the excess you have around you. Is it needed? Probably not. Is it
enjoyable, most likely. Does God bless us with good things to enjoy? YES sir!!
However, if we look around us again, and look at the things that we need in
order to live – those basic necessities are right there for us! He provides for
the sparrow, He WILL provide much more for us!
I’m
praying for you and your day. That you will look around and thank the Lord for
all of the things He is blessing you with. All fo the things He is providing.
Take a good look – you just might be surprised at how much you truly do have!
Be well, be safe, and mostly – be blessed!!
