Do You Know Your Purpose

Do You Know Your Purpose?

God has a plan and a purpose for each and every one of us, He does!

Psalm 57:1-2 Have mercy on me, O God, have mercy! I look to You for protection. I will hide beneath the shadow of Your wings until the danger passes by. I cry out to God Most High, to God who will fulfill His purpose for me.

Yes, there are dangers out there. Some that seem to chase us on a daily basis LOL Yet, with God in control, we get to cry out to Him for help and hide beneath His wings.

Another MEF (mind’s eye flash) happened.
Running in fear close to the edge of a cliff, I am able to stop abruptly, turn and cry to the heavens for God’s help. Instantly, my eyes are opened and I see the HUGE angels surrounding me, protecting me. I sense the “covering” of something peaceful, pure, safe. As I blink my eyes to what I see, I look up and the blue sky is hidden by a soft veil of what appears to be feathers. They are solid yet sheer. Cooling from the heat built up from the running in fear. Firm in their protection and yet gentle in their comfort. As I look to where I came from, I see arrows flying towards me, but they hit the “shield” over me and bounce off into the canyon below. The arrows are quite dangerous. Some are small, like to fit in a crack. Others are big and full of daggers. Some are even on fire! NONE of them get through. None of them hurt me in any way. I am safe and protected under these wings of love from Jesus!

Wow! Right as I was going to say that verse 2 about ‘purpose’ is what jumped out at me today! LOL Our “purpose” is to turn to, call out to, look for, and rely on God at all times. In all situations. With all relationships and people. Following His words that guide us in truth and not in our own fleshly, selfish desires.

Yes, His main purpose for us is to have fellowship with Him. The saving grace of Jesus from eternal separation from God. Then there is the “works because we are saved through Jesus – the things we do to show our relationship with Him. Just as our bodies are different including our fingerprints and DNA – our “purpose” is different too J The interesting thing with God is, that our purpose can change depending on the need and the situation/circumstance. Just as our gifts and talents can and do change with age, maturity, knowledge…

“Yeah but, Lisa Marie, I don’t have a clue what my ‘purpose’ is, or even where to begin. What about me?” you might be saying. Well, that’s easy and hard at the same time. (sorry, but true)

First of all, you need a relationship with Jesus. The one where you can call on Him like the Bat Phone any time day or night. BUT, you also need to HEAR His voice. Listen to His words and guidance through the Holy Spirit. You can only get this information by reading His word (for yourself) or listening to it on audio. You need to be a follower of Jesus. Do what He did. Love how He loves. Forgive how He forgives. His mercy and compassion is something that we really will never live up to, but it sure can be fun trying! I mean, really – what’s the worst that can happen?!?! You laugh a lot? You spread joy and happiness? You feel good as your head hits the pillow each night? You get to see God bless people in a million ways? Really?!?! YES! Really!

Today, your purpose might be to make someone smile. Or perhaps be that one person that shows kindness by helping someone in a way that others have been ignoring. Maybe it is stepping out of your comfort zone and saying Hi to someone with a warm smile. Maybe it is to give of your talents, or time, or food, or money… Your purpose today might be to sit on your Fathers lap and spill your guts out. Seek Him and you WILL find Him! If you are running next to a cliff and flaming arrows are being shot at you – then your purpose might very well be to duck in under His wings <3

Your purpose today – is to show Jesus to others in a way that is real.
