Set Free From Negative Emotions

Lord, set me free from negative emotions.

Psalm 34:17-18 The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles. The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves such as have a contrite spirit.

I have this little book written by Stormie Omartain, she has a whole series of books on The Power of Praying - they are really good!! Well, this little book I got this out of is called A Book of Prayer - 365 Prayers for Victorious Living.

Hubby and I are experiencing something, from someone near and dear to our hearts - that is just SO hard to accept, or explain. Sitting down with Jesus, He has touched our hearts, that this person is hurting and has lashed out due to the pain they are going through. Yet, here we are stuck with negative emotions that keep flooding into our mind and heart over and over. It is doubly hard to witness, because it affects one of our children. Our hearts are broken at this loss of friendship. Yes, I feel it is part the enemy, and part the Lord. The enemy because it won't go away. The Lord, LOL because it won't go away! The Lord wants us to pray for this person - BIG time! So we are, and it is totally helping. Then the enemy reminds us of our part in the situation. Even though we made a choice, we don't understand what has happened, and why they have lashed out so horribly. Sad.

So, the prayer that Stormie shares in this little book, fits just right. I thought I'd share. If you are facing a situation that is causing you negative feelings and emotions - we need to look at them as the enemy. The enemy comes to steal, kill and destroy - he and his army are professional assassins of the heart, soul and mind. But God is the Great I AM, He is the restorer of our soul, heart, and mind! God is the One with all the power to conquer the enemy - which Jesus already did ;-)

Here is her prayer - and mine as well:

Lord, help me to live in Your joy and peace. Give me strength and understanding to resist anxeity, anger, envy, depression, bitterness, hopelessness, loneliness, fear, and guilt. Rescue me when my spirit is overwhelmed within me; my heart within me is distressed (Psalm 143:4). I refuse to let me life be brought down by negative emotions such as these. When I am tempted to give in to them, show me Your truth. You have said in Your Word that by our patience we can possess our souls (Luke 21:19). Give me patience so I can do that. Help me to keep my heart with all diligence, for I know that out of it spring the issues of life (Proverbs 4:23).

I'm praying for you today. Pray for us as well. May the Lord bless you and keep you safe in His arms. Be well, be safe, be blessed!
