The Only Way To Be Perfect
Have
you ever just wanted to NOT mess up in things, or with people, or anything to
do with daily living? Do you want to be “perfect” in living life? Well, while
we are here walking and talking on this earth, it ain’t gonna happen! Nope – we
are human, it cannot.

John 1:8-10 (NLT)
8 If we claim we have no sin, we are only fooling
ourselves and not living in the truth. 9 But if we confess our sins to Him, He is faithful
and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness. 10 If we claim we have not sinned, we are calling
God a liar and showing that His word has no place in our hearts.
No matter how “good” we try
to be, we ALL mess up and do things that, according to God, are wicked and
sinful. Matching our daily life to the 10 commandments, we all fall short. None
of us is perfect. To be perfect, is to be dead. So, to say “we have not sinned”
is actually breaking Gods commands just in saying THAT. Sure, as we get older,
follow the promptings of the Holy Spirit more and more, we ‘sin less’ – but we
are NOT sinless. I mean shoot! Some of us start sinning before our feet even
hit the floor in the morning (lol) while others come into it, after we have
woken up a bit. It is not just our outward actions that are counted, but the
inner thoughts that we hang on to and/or cause our actions – those things are
sin too.
Verse 9 tells us the PERFECT
way to be right with God at ALL times: “But if we confess our sins to Him, He
is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all
wickedness.” Truly, it is that easy. Sure, it may be a constant battle
to have a conversation like this, for some of us (lol) but, it does get less
and less as we do it more and more often. I just don’t know how someone that is
NOT following Jesus, and has had a sorted past, can wake up and do each day
without Him. Especially if they have done some things that register a lot
higher on the naughty scale. Or the person that has a hard time with their
temper, waking up in the morning and saying to themselves, “Today, I am not
going to let anything get to me. I am not going to curse or yell.” Then they
get out of bed and walk to the bathroom and stub their toe… guess what, they
break that promise they just claimed, and it hasn’t even been five minutes!
Yup, that is us. All of us! We can NOT be perfect. So, when we DO mess up – we have
a way to still be in good standing with God… That is because of Jesus and His
perfect, sinless life that He lived when He was here alive and walking on the
earth.
We get to actually go before God, and talk with
Him, and tell Him of what we wanted to do, then tried to do, then failed to do.
We “talk” with Him and ask Him to forgive us of whatever it is that we just did.
Then, the BEST gift of all – He forgives us. Remembers it no more. Doesn’t hold
it against us. He will NEVER bring it back up against us, EVER! It is the enemy
of God, the devil, that brings it up. The devil is the Master Liar and Deceiver.
Not God. With God, He removes it away as far as the east is from the west. Like
sand in the bottom of the ocean, He holds it no more.
Is there something you are struggling with?
Something that you keep thinking “I’ve got this” and then turn around and mess
up? Then GO to Him!! Like a precious child that you are to Him! Go to Him, and
tell Him what you’ve done, and ask Him if He will forgive you for that. He will
say YES every time! True, there may be repercussions or consequences from your
choices and actions, but He will guide you and walk with you through that as
well. Go to Him – He is waiting J Be well today. Be safe. Best of all, be blessed!
