The Air Around Us
The "air" around us. Even in fog, there is light. I am praying for ANY fog you are experiencing, to be LIFTED today!
Romans
1:13-17; 18-23
NLT – 18 But God
shows his anger from heaven against all sinful, wicked people who suppress the
truth by their wickedness. 19 They know
the truth about God because he has made it obvious to them. 20 For ever
since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through
everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities—his eternal
power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God. 21 Yes, they knew God, but
they wouldn’t worship him as God or even give him thanks. And they began to
think up foolish ideas of what God was like. As a result, their minds became
dark and confused. 22 Claiming
to be wise, they instead became utter fools. 23 And
instead of worshiping the glorious, ever-living God, they worshiped idols made
to look like mere people and birds and animals and reptiles.
MSG – 18-23 But God’s angry displeasure erupts as acts of human mistrust
and wrongdoing and lying accumulate, as people try to put a shroud over truth.
But the basic reality of God is plain enough. Open your eyes and there it is!
By taking a long and thoughtful look at what God has created, people have
always been able to see what their eyes as such can’t see: eternal power, for
instance, and the mystery of his divine being. So nobody has a good excuse.
What happened was this: People knew God perfectly well, but when they didn’t
treat him like God, refusing to worship him, they trivialized themselves into
silliness and confusion so that there was neither sense nor direction left in
their lives. They pretended to know it all, but were illiterate regarding life.
They traded the glory of God who holds the whole world in his hands for cheap
figurines you can buy at any roadside stand.
TPT – 18 For God
in heaven unveils his holy anger breaking forth against every form of sin,
both toward ungodliness that lives in hearts and evil actions. For the
wickedness of humanity deliberately smothers the truth and keeps people from
acknowledging the truth about God. 19 In
reality, the truth of God is known instinctively, for God has embedded
this knowledge inside every human heart. 20 Opposition to truth cannot be excused on the basis of ignorance, because
from the creation of the world, the invisible qualities of God’s nature
have been made visible, such as his eternal power and transcendence. He has
made his wonderful attributes easily perceived, for seeing the visible makes
us understand the invisible. So then, this leaves everyone without excuse.
21 Throughout human history the fingerprints of
God were upon them, yet they refused to honor him as God or even be
thankful for his kindness. Instead, they entertained corrupt and foolish
thoughts about what God was like. This left them with nothing but
misguided hearts, steeped in moral darkness. 22 Although
claiming to be super-intelligent, they were in fact shallow fools. 23 For only
a fool would trade the unfading splendor of the immortal God to worship the
fading image of other humans, idols made to look like people, animals, birds,
and even creeping reptiles!
I truly enjoy reading from
different bible translations! It helps me understand God’s word better. In
reading the book of Romans (even though I haven’t gotten very far LOL), it
seems like I can actually HEAR Paul speaking!
I had a MEF (minds eye
flash) with these verses today.
At first,
there seemed to be a fog hovering over as I read that God unveils His anger on
all rebellion and sin that comes from the hearts and actions of people. Then,
as I read on, and realized that the “darkness” hovering over people, keeping
them blind and unaccepting of truth – it was revealed to me, that the darkness,
the fog, is actually the enemy!
I see
people that seem untouched by civilization. Working and moving about. As the
day brightens, they are looking at and admiring the sky, light, birds and such.
They have a peace and gladness in them, that shines towards each other. They
are kind and helpful to each other. They all seem to realize that they are but
a tiny bit in the world. They are content. Little ones running and playing
while others work, together for the greater good of the village. MANY times, I
see the people stop for a brief moment and whisper a ‘thank you’ up to the sky.
As they do this, the whole place gets brighter and clearer! They are seeing and
acknowledging the truth that God Almighty is the creator of them and all they
have. They are thankful for the things they are given. They feel blessed for
what they have, even though it is little by the rest of the worlds view.
A flash
happens, and I am taken over to another group of people not too far away. They
are moving about in a repressed way. Bitterness and anger seem to be in every
movement and breath. They do not “see” all of the light that God is providing,
because of the deep haze hovering over them. In their hearts, the wickedness
and evil intentions seem to be growing with each chore they set out to do. There
in the middle of all of this, is a young man, that seems to be questioning
himself and these feelings. Wanting to feel like he did when he was a young
child. When he would run and climb trees, enjoying the warm sun and cool
breezes. He looks up at the sky, and a few clouds seem to start to move and
pull apart, starting to reveal the blue sky and sun. He instinctively knows
there is Someone up there, deep in his heart. He remembers feeling something in
the invisibleness in nature. All around him, he remembers the feeling of “love”
by the beauty growing and living around him. Suddenly a bell is rung. As the
young man looks toward the building where the bell is ringing, before he
actually takes a step – he glances up again. As if the street and fog work
together, the haze wraps around him, pulling him to look towards the bell, and
pushes him to move towards the building. I’m watching as this thin veil turns
into a thick blanket wrapped around him. Controlling him as to where to go.
He is
deliberately being smothered by this mist. The enemy is keeping him from
looking towards and even feeling free to acknowledge the truth about all
creation, including himself. Blocking him from God Himself. As he enters the
building, I see the many man-made images that are being worshiped. Yes, he knew
God, but refused to worship Him along with everyone else in the village. He
now, is just like the elders that started it all: corrupt, foolish, misguided,
steeped in darkness.
WOW!! What a visual of the
words as I was reading!! It is SO sad, that many people have done this here in
America, well, all over the world actually. People trade the Truth of God and
all He has for them, for the lust-filling, sin-driving, evil-rising, misguided
darkness from the enemy. People fall down, give their lives even, for man-made
images and philosophies, the actually destroy the bridge between us and God.
Things that pull them into foolishness. Oh, we ALL fall for this at one time or
another, even I have. It is the “nature” we are born in, due to the fall of
man, way back at the beginning of time.
Yet, we DO have proof on a
DAILY basis that God is God! The sky, trees, land, water, fire, the air we
breathe… none of these things have an explanation of where they “began”. There
is not a metamorphosis of us “growing” each year into something else – like some
have been pulled away to believe in (I think it’s called Darwinism, not
positive tho). If we truly were “evolving” – then why haven’t we?! Why? Because
it is not truth. Plain and simple. God is God. He is the giver of everything we
have. It is NOT God that creates evil or harmful things in our world – it is birthed
out of sin. The root of all evil, the Devil. Unfortunately, we are in his world
right now. The world that God gave him to rule over. He and his army are prowling
around day and night, constantly seeking to devour and destroy us – ALL of us!
So, were does this leave
me today? With a thankful and grateful heart that I DO trust and believe in
God. That I am on the firm “bridge” of Jesus, that has closed the gap of sin
and darkness for me. That the Holy Spirit is with me every day! I see God in
everything! Anytime I look around, I see Him and usually whisper a little “think
You” to Him myself. Yes, for small things like green lights, and big things
like recovering from a dark pit I stumbled into.
Today, I pray that God
opens your eyes to Him and ALL that He has for you. Just look around – He is
here! The very air we are breathing, is a sign He is here. Yes, even in the midst of the hardship in the world right now, He is
walking it right along with us. Look to Him. Ask Him to show Himself, the Truth
and Life, to you in the way that YOU will understand and believe (and accept).
I promise you, He WILL show up, just for YOU! I’m praying you are blessed
beyond understanding today <3
