Who Is Knocking At The Gate

Do we truly hear the knocking at the door? What do we do when we realize it is Him? Stay? Run? Tell others?

Today, I used the STAR with the verses I read.

S – Acts 12:12-1812 When he realized this, he went to the home of Mary, the mother of John Mark, where many were gathered for prayer. 13 He knocked at the door in the gate, and a servant girl named Rhoda came to open it. 14 When she recognized Peter’s voice, she was so overjoyed that, instead of opening the door, she ran back inside and told everyone, “Peter is standing at the door!” 15 “You’re out of your mind!” they said. When she insisted, they decided, “It must be his angel.” 16 Meanwhile, Peter continued knocking. When they finally opened the door and saw him, they were amazed. 17 He motioned for them to quiet down and told them how the Lord had led him out of prison. “Tell James and the other brothers what happened,” he said. And then he went to another place.

T - SO many things in these verses!

Peter:  VS 12 – when Peter realized it wasn’t a vision, the first place he headed was the place where he KNEW believers would be gathered praying (and awake). VS 16 – Peter didn’t give up, he stayed there and kept knocking (like Jesus does on the door of our heart). VS 17 – He knew that even tho the Lord led him out of prison, there would be a great price to pay for those involved, so he wanted them to quiet down. Then, he gave them “instructions” of what to do in his absence.

Rhoda: VS 13 – even tho it was late, there was a servant “serving” that went to see who was knocking at the gate. VS 14 – “When she recognized Peter’s voice” this means that she had been in the home of those who Peter visited or she was with the family when they were in places Peter preached. She KNEW his voice! John 10:3 the sheep know the Shepherds voice; John 10:27-30 27 My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. 28 I give them eternal life, and they will never perish. No one can snatch them away from me, 29 for my Father has given them to me, and he is more powerful than anyone else. No one can snatch them from the Father’s hand. 30 The Father and I are one.” She was SO excited, she ran back in! Leaving him at the gate LOL LOL VS 15 – interesting, they are praying for his release, trusting God to provide, and yet – when she says Peter himself is at the gate, they don’t believe her! They call her crazy! THEN they think it is a ghost (his angel)! WHAT?!?!

A - How often do I get excited over something and run fast head-first into it, forgetting to “let Him in”?!?! Or, just going about my business, job, chores, duty… and then realize it is Jesus talking to me and I forget to give Him praise or thanks?!?! I see that I need to remember to stop, slow down, breathe, and listen to His voice. That I do need to include others in what He shares, not just keep it in my head.

R – Oh Daddy! I hear the nudge to go back to sharing the blog of Tea Time with You. Thank You for blessing me with being able to read Your word and spend time with You - thank You!! <3
