Teach Me Lord

2 Timothy 2:23-24 "Again I say, don’t get involved in foolish, ignorant arguments that only start fights. A servant of the Lord must not quarrel but must be kind to everyone, be able to teach, and be patient with difficult people."
Hmmmm... 'again' - this reminder must be important, because it is 'warned against AGAIN' LOL Yes, we DO get caught up in our humanness from time to time... Yes, I have fallen in to the pit of foolish, ignorant arguments that indeed lead to fights. Darn!! But, it's SO easy to get sucked in! How do we stop? By being kind, finding out ways to 'teach' and by being patient, especially with difficult people. One of Gods greatest gifts to us, is learning how someone else 'learns'. Do they understand truth by example? Maybe by drawings or word illustrations? How about by a story they can relate to, an example? Some people learn by hands-on, some by hearing, and others by reading. Then - there are those that learn by two of these ways put together.

When we are on the verge of getting caught up in foolish conversations that will lead to fights... we must take a deep breath (praying fast & hard as we breathe in), step back, view the situation & conversation from Gods view, then use His gift of kindness and possibly 'teach' something in that moment. Sometimes the teachable moment is but a few seconds. That's why, when we spend time with Jesus in His word daily, we have His instructions pouring in to us, so we can spill them out on to others as needed. YES, sometimes the BEST way to not be involved in foolish, ignorant arguments - is to WALK AWAY! Flee from the situation & conversation! When we get into situations where we are 'in way over our head', the Holy Spirit always throws us a Life-Rope! He always provides a way of escape! Grab hold! Take the way out! Flee!

My current job, teaches me nearly every day, to see others & treat them as Jesus would. There are many 'difficult people' that come to my work place. Jesus has been working thru these people to 'teach' me!! Being 'kind' is not always with monetary stuff. Sometimes it's compassion, understanding, & a listening ear. I understand it's not my job to help 'everyone' & that I can not always fill their request. However, Jesus CAN! So I quickly shoot up a 911 prayer, asking for ears to hear & a heart to understand. Then a mouth of compassion to express His love. Then a way to guide them however I can.

Today, if you find yourself getting 'sucked in' to an argument or being harsh & unkind: step back, take a deep breath, quickly pray, then zip-it and 'listen' to the other person. The lesson in that moment, might actually be for you, and not just for them. Be well today. I'm praying you are blessed with Gods gifts today. Know that you ARE loved!!
