Don't Be Hung Up On The Dollar Sign
Proverbs 3:9
Verse 9: "Honor the Lord with your wealth and with the best part of everything you produce."
What is wealth anyway? I mean really?! For many of us living pay check to pay check, wealth is only something we see in movies. However, the MEF (Minds Eye Flash) that came to me, was very different than what the world considers "wealth".
To me, wealth is not just about the outside stuff, but the inside of a person. Character, integrity, honesty... The heart and mind of a person filled with wisdom and love, are more rich than someone sitting in a big mansion! When we are surrounded by people that love us unconditionally, share life with us, and give what they can to others in times of need - THAT is wealth!
So, now the last part of this verse "the best part of everything you produce", what about someone that doesn't have a job? Well, to me, it can be both what you do and or make, as well as how you help others. If you do a job and you do it well, you are offering up "the best". In other words, when you have a job and you go to work, it shouldn't be 'just to get a pay check' but it should also be to do your best that you possibly can. Yes, even if you have co-workers or a boss that are less than desirable. Doesn't matter! If you work like you are working for Jesus, then all of the bosses here on earth, will not ever match up to Him. If you are home, taking care of others, and you do it with love, care, concern... and you give them your "best" - then you are honoring the Lord! If you work a job where you are physical, and at the end of the day, you are exhausted - you have honored the Lord. You work in an office, and you use all of your work time, to do all of your work, even help others... you are honoring the Lord. When we do "our best" with what ever we have, that it is what will bring honor to God. Your "wealth" is your character - which is who and how you are, when no-one else is around. Your wealth is your love for others and yourself. What spills out on to others is what you "produce".
Do you have a special skill? How about an understanding of something, like plants, that you can share this knowledge with others? How about caring for people? Young or old - do you have a heart for that? Do you have a way of training your children, that a new or young mom could benefit from? How about making things? Are you able to hand craft things, that you can sell, or share with others in need? These things, ARE your "wealth". What you produce and is honoring to the Lord, is your character! I pray that today, you ask the Lord to show you ways in which you are 'gifted' and then how you can 'share' these gifts with others. You "produce" more than you realize, I am sure of it! Trust that Jesus will show you, and that He will also show you when, where, and how to offer up this wealth with your best. Don't focus on the "dollar" sign with things. Actual money will fade. It will rise and fall, like any outside gains. However, what you have inside of you, in your heart - THAT is the wealth that will NEVER fade, and it can NEVER be taken away from you either! Your character is worth far more than rubies or gold, God says so, MANY times in His word! Believe it! Live it! Enjoy it! Now, go out and live today like the child of a King that you ARE! Share your wealth with others, and see just how being rich really feels!
