Which Dog Are You Feeding
Psalms 9:1-2, 9-10 NLT
Verses 1-2: I will praise You, Lord, with all my heart; I will tell of all the marvelous things You have done. I will be filled with joy because of You. I will sing praises to Your name, O Most High.
Verses 9-10: The Lord is a shelter for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble. Those who know Your name trust in You, for You, O Lord, do not abandon those who search for You.
Here again, are promises from God for us! Verses 9-10 tell us just WHO God is to/for us. He shelters us and is the One we can run to at any time, day or night! We can trust Him and all He tells us, directs us, and guides us in. When we seek Him, His wisdom, and His direction in things - even just in everyday living - He does not leave us, and will NEVER abandon us!
I know I'm a 'broken record' and I keep repeating certain things - but this one IS worth it! :-) Praising God, and thanking Him for the things He does in, to, and around us - should be first on our lips! People should say, "there they go again, preaching at me" because of us giving God glory in all things, big or small. It should be so natural, that even when you get a green light while driving, on your way somewhere a little late, that we should automatically praise God for it! Yes, out loud. For yourself to hear it, as well as anyone in the car, and for the enemy! Remember, at the mention of Jesus' name, the enemy runs away from you. Here is the 'broken record' part: as you go about your day, getting ready for work, doing chores, running errands, doing your job at work.... go through the ABC's, and thank God for things that start with each letter, all the way through. It is AMAZING just how something so simple can turn your day around!
Remember, your thoughts can only focus on one type of thought at a time. Your brain cannot focus on positive and negative at the same time. That old saying, "the dog you feed is the dog that grows" is VERY true!! If you have a 'tiny dog' of positiveness in your life, it is time to train him up, and build him up, to be a bigger, stronger dog in your life. It is time to feed that tiny dog God's food! The 'quick grow' of the Holy Spirit! And, if you have been attacked by the 'big bully dog' - it's time to put him in restraints, and water-down his food. It takes practice. It's not easy. Yes, there will be failures. However, there WILL be successes too!! And those will build you and your faith strength up BIG time! You can't help but be filled with joy, and sing praises to God when you put into practice this good habit! It just happens! And the joy that comes from doing so, is not something that fades quickly, it lasts and lasts, and will help carry you through difficult paths ahead. THAT is what a loving and good Father God is! Through Jesus, via the Holy Spirit living inside of us - we get to be talked to, nudged, and even prodded in certain directions - we need to learn to listen to Their voices, and feel Their nudging's.
Today, how about you go through the ABC's with praise and thanksgiving at breakfast, lunch and dinner?! Share them with your family! Get creative! Even if you are in the middle of a storm, or a dry desert - there are things to thank God for. Being able to read, having breath, a roof over your head, water to drink.... even down to having tooth paste to brush your teeth - these are things that we CAN and should be thanking God for!
I'm praying for you today. That you will be so quick to praise God and thank Him for things, that people will roll their eyes around you! LOL That you will be a light SO bright, of Jesus shining through you, that people will have to wear sunglasses around you. They will 'see' you are bright, and WANT to know why. Then, share again, the great things He has done - you WILL be blessed when you do! Have a GREAT day, KNOW that I am praying for you, and that you ARE loved!! <3
