What Road Are You Walking On Today

Psalm 34:4-6
(MSG) 4-5 "God met me more than halfway, He freed me from my anxious fears. Look at Him; give Him your warmest smile. Never hide your feelings from Him."
(NLT) 6 "In my desperation I prayed, and the Lord listened; He saved me from all of my troubles."

Today I had a MEF (minds eye flash) that made these verses come to life!

I'm walking on a road, on my way to somewhere, in a hurry and with the feeling of nerves, fear, worry... I look up, and the place where I am going seems super far away. I then am drawn to look to my right. There is a beautiful open field with a big open space, surrounded by trees. Along the road, there is a fence that has bushes (or weeds) blowing in the breeze. It almost looks like wheat blowing this way and that in the wind. The beautiful colors of so much contrast between the ground, the field, and the trees - catches me off guard. I look up just a bit more, and there is a Man, standing at an opening in the fence. His smile and look of openness on His face, is so warm, genuine, and inviting! As I go to Him, He reaches out His hand. I look at it. Stopping and staring at it for a minute. Caution and worry are gripping me like a tidal wave of fear rushing over me. Then, I look up into His face and nearly automatically reach up to take hold of His hand. INSTANTLY the calm and peace that washes over me, feels SO freeing!! I look at Him, and cannot help but smile with what seems to be a reflection of His smile towards me! Pure joy, love, warmth, acceptance! I am encouraged to "lay it all out there" and share with Him what I am feeling. Where I am going. What I believe to be up ahead. I felt so desperate and yet willingly shared these things with Him. He listened to EVERY single word! ALL of them! Then as I let the last words slip from my lips sharing what I was feeling, I felt His embrace. Not tight and constricting, but warm and freeing - life giving. Full of compassion and understanding. Like He totally knew exactly what I was feeling and going through. Like He too had experienced it before. In that moment, I felt saved. Saved from all of what was to come up ahead on the road. The bumps, bruises, rocks, sand, grass, up and down hills - the whole road ahead did not feel like trouble anymore!

I feel that we all are SO blessed! Jesus meets us right where we are, no matter where that is! No matter what we are going through or what we are feeling about ANY circumstance. He not only meets us, but shows up to meet us more than half way! LOL Almost like in a love scene in a movie, where the couple catch each others eyes, and then start to run towards each other.... then they collide with an embrace, kisses, hugs, love! Well, Jesus does this, even when we are pulled down by fear, shame, guilt, worry, stress, troubles.... AND He doesn't wait for us to 'run to Him' - He actually starts running towards us first! Pretty awesome I'd say!!

Where are you today? Are you on a path that seems to have no end? Are you in the middle of the ocean and your life jacket seems to be deflating quickly on you? Are you stuck on a small path on a cliff with no where to turn? OR Are you are in a field surrounded by beauty? Are you floating in the clouds surrounded by peace and calm? No matter where you are on life's journey. No matter what you are going through, or have just been through - God is there! He is ready and willing to listen to the cry of our heart and share ALL of what we are going through with Him. He WILL listen. He WILL save us, even if it is from ourselves, and be with us each and every step of the way!

I encourage you to just "walk up to Him", sit down, take a deep breath, and spill your beans. Then take a deep breath and allow His grace and mercy to wash over you and free you from all of the things you cannot control or change anyway. Let Him speak comfort, peace, joy, and freedom to you and over you. Accept His hand of help which leads to freedom. Be safe out there today. Be well. Know that you ARE loved!! He's ready, are you?
