Are You Hungry Or Content
What are you hungry for? Are you
craving something? Perhaps you are full and content…
Proverbs 10:3 (NLT) “The Lord will not let the godly go
hungry, but He
refuses to satisfy the craving of the wicked.”
Interesting how the book of Proverbs puts together
good vs. evil; right vs. wrong; life vs. death… In each example, I see myself
in BOTH of the things written from different times in my life. I believe the Lord
shows us these things both as a reminder and as a warning.
Sadly, if we are not in the Word of God on a regular
basis, we miss out on these things L Today, I am
reminded that even when things are hard and really tough, I am always taken
care of. The Holy Spirit finds a way to guide me to people, places, and or
things that take care of me and “feed” me. Oh how I remember, when I’m not
walking with Jesus, spending time building up our relationship – I start to ‘crave’
things, and none of them satisfy me! Why? Because the relationship I am
needing, missing, wanting – is with Jesus and Him alone. Sure, I have tried to
fill that void with all sorts of other things, never being truly satisfied with
any of them. Sure, temporarily, but really – deep down – nope, not satisfied at
all.
We truly have peace, joy, excitement, contentment
with everything around us when we are focusing on our relationship with Jesus.
That simple. Do things still go wrong in our life? You betcha! Do we still have
sad or low moments? Of course! The thing is – if you look back at the times
when you have been “close” to Jesus and the “things” that seemed to be
happening at those times – I bet you can see where He was taking care of you
and your basic needs. Know what?! Those are the times you were at peace as
well. You had some inner joy that was a glow all about you. Am I right?!
Today, if you do nothing else to ‘build’ the
relationship – just go through the ABC and name things that God has done for
you, given you, blessed you with. Yes, even if you are having a hard day and
things all around you seem to be falling apart – just do it. It will make a
difference in your attitude and your day.
I’m praying for you and your day. May the Lord fill
you with “seeing eyes” as well as understanding. Open up to Jesus, He’s right
there walking through all of today with you ;-) Be well, be safe, and be
blessed <3
