Under Pressure...What To Do

What do we do when we feel "grabbed" from all directions?!?! How should we act, think, react? Even Jesus had pressure. Here is what He did when it all seemed to come at Him and try and pressure Him...

S: John 6:15
NLT: When Jesus saw that they were ready to force Him to be their king, He slipped away into the hills by Himself.
MSG: Jesus saw that in their enthusiasm, they were about to grab Him and make Him king, so He slipped off and went back up the mountain to be by Himself.
NASB: So Jesus, perceiving that they were intending to come and take Him by force to make Him king, withdrew again to the mountain by Himself alone.
TPT: So Jesus, knowing that they were about to take Him and make Him their king by force, quickly left and went up the mountainside alone.

T: In the moment of what I would consider stressful or anxiety – when people are crowding in and pressing in or “egging on” to do something, I would have caved to the pressure. Been the ‘people pleaser’ and stayed in the middle of everything, then it would have been too late.
Jesus, in the middle of that – “went off to be alone” of course, to pray and be with God… but that He took Himself out of the middle,, went away (quickly) to pray and not be “made” to do anything!

A: Well now – this is an example of NOT caving in, getting away to be clear and get God’s perspective, plan, desire through prayer. What strikes me too in this verse, is that the people were about to be “physical” with Jesus. They were going to physically force Him to do something. Hahaha, He was such a ‘smart slippery fish’ in their eyes I can imagine LOL I’m not so sure I am in positions now, where people will actually take physical actions towards me – but the enemy sure does with “physical things” ie. candy, cake, alcohol… Eating when not hungry or emotional/stressed. All of which end up forcing me to do something I do NOT want to do!

R: Oh Papa – I pray through the name of Jesus for THIS to be my first response/reaction to trouble and temptation!! That I seek You out! Alone! Just getting out of the area, away from the thing or people!! I’m normally pretty good at getting away from people when talk goes in a direction I am not comfortable with. But when I am alone, and temptation springs up – THAT is when I need to run into Your arms even more! Father, I pray that You allow the Spirit to nudge me, kick me if necessary – when I am in the middle of one of these types of situations, and remind me to “get away to a quiet place to be with You”. Thank You in advance for how You will remind me of this and provide a way for me to do this! Thank You!!
