Storms Don't Last Forever
Verse 1: “Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring.
Verse 3: Stone is heavy and sand a burden, but a fool’s provocation is heavier than both.
Verse 8: Like a bird that flees its nest is anyone who flees from home.
Verse 19: As water reflects the face, so one’s life reflects the heart.
Verse 20: Death and Destruction are never satisfied, and neither are human eyes.”
Verse 1 made me laugh! It made me thing of the weather-man, telling us about the weather coming up. How often God shows His power and control over the weather, and it is NOTHING like what the 'people' told us it would be LOL I think God has a GREAT sense of humor! I think He changes it, just so we can NOT be accurate in our predictions. :-)
Verse 3 had a visual pop: driving on a road, and the hill gave way, which had falling rocks and sand which blocked the road. In order to clear it, the rocks took actual big machines to remove the rocks. And the sand was constantly changing, moving, and became harder to move and clean up than the rocks. Then, in the middle of it, a person wanting to "save the hill" got in the middle of it all. They caused such a problem, that everything was delayed, as well as having to come up with ideas to do the clean up in a 'save the rock' sort of way. VERY foolish, and it made the work of clearing things much harder, WAY more of a burden.
This is how it can be with people in our lives, during certain situations. We may feel that the circumstance is heavy, or even a burden, like we are having to move the 'rocks & sand' all be hand - but when it involves another person, that is provoking us, it can feel heavier than everything coming at us, or that we are doing! However, with God on your side, nothing is impossible. Yes, you must pray for your enemies and people that cause trouble, or those that come against you. We are to try to honor God in our actions. Yet, over and over in the bible, we are shown that it is ok to pray for God's will and His favorable outcome. That the enemy will "pay for the wrong they have done".
Verse 8 hit me for a marriage, where one spouse is 'fleeing from the nest'. It's sad, but like I see in our tree out front, many a baby bird is either eaten or falls to their death by trying to leave their nest too soon. In a marriage, not only is there
loss and separation, but there is even death. Sometimes it is to the spouse that is leaving, and sometimes to the one left behind. When we leave, what God has joined together, and try to "make it on our own" even if another person is / or is not involved - this causes such an unbalance. However, God is merciful. He allows us free choice, and allows us to try and fail at things. He is looking for us to be 'broken' and dependent on Him. That we come to Him with our cares and concerns, worries and fears. That He is our first choice, not our last.
If you are experiencing this, I am praying for you. I am praying for God to protect, cover, and shield you who are in the nest, while the other person is out, That you will draw closer to God, and trust in His provisions for you. It may not all make sense right now, but God DOES have you right here, in this situation, in this place, for a reason. Take courage, and KNOW that He is working behind the scenes on your behalf.
Verse 19, pretty much says it like it is. Our life, how we live, what we do, inside our home as well at out - reflects our true inner heart. What we choose to spend our time and money on - that is where our heart is. OUCH! I tend to spend too much time not taking care of the things I really want to, which then leads to laziness and stress. In a perfect world, we wouldn't have to worry or bother about external things - but here on earth - we do. What we invest in, is what others see us for or as. So, if we really want others to see Jesus, and come to His saving grace - then we need to be that example that they look at and witness. No, we are not going to nor are we expected to, live perfectly in all things. However, the one thing we CAN do perfectly: is trust in Jesus in ALL things. Good, bad, indifferent - THAT is the way to live and show others who He really is! ;-)
Verse 20 actually went along with verse 8 to me. The eyes of someone wandering from a marriage, are like the winds of change. Death. Destruction. No matter how hard we try to have things 'perfect' and 'safe'. No matter how much we exercise or how well we eat... death still comes. Storms still happen and cause destruction. It's like a thirst, and it is never satisfied. Human eyes, are the same way. Either they are in constant "want" with envy and or jealousy, or even in lust. If we don't do like God instructs us, to take captive our thoughts, to control our anger and tongue, to seek Him in all things - then these destructive things, will rule over us. It does NOT have to be that way!! However, a LOT of this can NOT be done on our own, or in OUR power - but it CAN be done WITH God and in His powerful name! With Jesus ALL things are possible!! ALL THINGS!
Today, if the winds of change and or destruction are blowing at your door - I pray that you batten down the hatches with Jesus, and allow Him to calm the storm raging outside, and bring peace to your soul n the inside. Only He can! And if you but just ask, He WILL! He loves you! He cares about you and all that you are going through! He doesn't want you to suffer. However, He DOES want you to trust in, lean on, and rely on Him. Try it - what have you got to lose?!?! Also, what have you got to gain? Peace, calmness, love, affection, joy... Be safe and well today! <3
